This module is one of the simplest available within BranChing. All it does is count the number of on pixels in an image, and the number of adjacent pixels (somewhere between 0-8) for each on pixel.
None of the correction factors proposed by Zoon & van Tienderen (1990) are implemented by BranChing due to the empirical nature of the derivation of these values.
This module (as of BranChing v1.56) now performs the calculations developed by Pan and Bolton (1991). I recommend reading this paper for additional detail about the calculations (see "References" for a complete citation). The output of this module is a single line of information per file processed. The information on the line is given in the following order:
